ARLINGTON, Texas – With the season fast approaching, the UT Arlington men's and women's cross country teams announced the 2023 schedule.
The Mavericks are slated to participate in five races this fall ahead of the Western Athletic Conference Championships.
UTA will open the season on the road as they travel to Fort Worth for the TCU Horned Frog Invitational on Friday, September 1.
The Mavs return home on Saturday, September 9, for the annual Gerald Richey UTA Invitational. For the third straight season, UTA will return to Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie for the home meet.
UTA will face stern competition in their next three events, heading to College Station on September 15 for the Texas A&M Invitational. The Mavs then travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas on September 29 for the annual Chile Pepper Invitational, featuring some of the top teams in the nation. The Mavs conclude the season by travelling back to College Station on October 13 for the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
"We are excited for the upcoming season and building upon our successes from the previous year," said Head Coach
John Sauerhage. "This schedule allows us to face some great competition throughout the year to prepare us for the conference championships and more. Our core group of returners along with the newcomers are ready for a special season."
The WAC Championship date is set for Friday, October 27, at Zoe Park in Abilene. In UTA's first season back in the WAC last season, the men finished fourth while the women placed 10th.
The NCAA South Central Regional in Fayetteville is scheduled for Friday, November 10, hosted by Arkansas. The NCAA Championships are slated for Saturday, November 18, hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville.
