FORT WORTH, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams kicked off the 2023 season at the John McKenzie Invitational. Both men's and women's teams finished third overall in the team standings.
In her Mavericks debut,
Mercy Biwott finished eighth overall with a time of 18:01.10. Right behind her finishing ninth was
Lauren Walls-Portillo, clocking in with a time of 18:04.10.
Krianne McBride placed 18th overall with a time of 18:43.70. Rachael Hartly (19:11.30) and
Isabel Borrego (19:13.70) finished 33rd and 34th respectively to round out the top finishers for the Mavs.
On the men's side,
Jackson Cichon was the top finisher for UTA with his sixth-place finish (15:07.10).
Josue Granados finished 12th with a time of 15:20.30.
Rogelio Aguirre was the third Mav to finish, coming in 20th with a time of 15:37.50.
Brian Guevara (15:55.70) and
Brandon Wilk (15:59.90) placed 29th and 32nd respectively to round out the top finishers for UTA.
The men placed third with a score of 88 points and the women finished third as well with a score of 87 points.

The Mavs return to action next Saturday, September 9, as they host the Gerald Richey UTA Invitational at Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake.
