ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's basketball looks to get back in the win column on Friday night when it hosts Texas College at 7 p.m. CT at the College Park Center.
The Mavs have dropped each of their past two games, a nailbiter at USC on Wednesday night (98-95), and their last home game, a 92-77 loss against Louisiana Tech and look to get back to their winning ways Friday night.
Despite coming up just short in Los Angeles, the Mavs saw a lot of positives against Big Ten foe USC. UTA scored a season-high 95 points, shared the ball well (24 assists on 30 made field goals), shot very well (56.6% from the field and 66.7% from distance), saw five players score in double figures, and outrebounded the Trojans. The Mavs' bench also played a major role, outscoring USC 43-21 in that category.
Guard
Jaden Wells kept up his hot shooting, scoring a season-best 27 points on 7-of-10 from deep, while forward
Jaxon Ellingsworth poured in a career-high 19 points.
Texas College, located in Tyler, Texas, is out of the Red River Athletic Conference at the NAIA level, is set to face UTA for the first time in program history on Friday night. The Steers are officially 1-1, though their most recent game was an exhibition loss at Centenary, 75-64. The Steers are led by first-year head coach Walter Yates.
The Mavs and Steers will tip off at 7 p.m., and the game is set to be broadcast live on
ESPN+ with James Trietley (play-by-play) and Yolanda Moore (analyst) on the call, as well as on the radio at 102.5 FM and KTNO 620 AM with the voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours.
