ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's basketball announced Wednesday that head coach KT Turner has signed F/C Amari Reed, from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas.
 
Reed, a 6'9" forward/center was a consensus three-star prospect (247 Sports, 247Sports Composite, On3, ESPN, from Lancaster High School, helped lead the Tigers to a 30-5 record and the 2023-24 Texas 5-A State title. Reed finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks in the title game win for the Tigers against Killeen Ellison.
 
Reed was ranked the 217^th overall player by On3 and 16^th in the state of Texas by 247Sports, the big man tallied 13 double-doubles in 23-24 for Lancaster. He was named the 14-5A Defensive Player of the Year, was named to the UIL 5A All-Tournament Team and was Academic All-District this past season.
 
In addition to UTA, Reed also received offers from Cal, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, Texas State, UTSA, Nicholls, New Orleans, Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State.
