ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's basketball announced Wednesday that head coach
KT Turner has signed F/C Amari Reed, from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas.
Reed, a 6'9" forward/center was a consensus three-star prospect (247 Sports, 247Sports Composite, On3, ESPN, from Lancaster High School, helped lead the Tigers to a 30-5 record and the 2023-24 Texas 5-A State title. Reed finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks in the title game win for the Tigers against Killeen Ellison.
Reed was ranked the 217
th overall player by On3 and 16
th in the state of Texas by 247Sports, the big man tallied 13 double-doubles in 23-24 for Lancaster. He was named the 14-5A Defensive Player of the Year, was named to the UIL 5A All-Tournament Team and was Academic All-District this past season.
In addition to UTA, Reed also received offers from Cal, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, Texas State, UTSA, Nicholls, New Orleans, Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State.
