Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. – The UT Arlington women's basketball team battled throughout the game but fell short against a tough Arizona team by a final score of 73-54.
The 53rd season of Lady Mavs basketball saw
Koi Love's debut in the blue and orange and she did not disappoint, scoring a game high 20 points on a 47-percent shooting night from the floor. She added two assists, tied for the team high, and one rebound in a game high 33 minutes of action.
Avery Brittingham recorded nine points while pulling down five rebounds and dishing out two assists in 31 minutes of play.
Zoe Nelson finished with six points while corralling a team high eight rebounds in 26 minutes for her UTA debut.
Aspen Thornton scored eight points in 21 minutes off the bench in her Lady Mavs debut.
Nya Threatt scored six points while grabbing three rebounds in 27 minutes.
Taliyah Clark dropped five points while grabbing three boards and throwing out one assist in 16 minutes.
As a team, the Lady Mavs shot 33-percent from the floor compared to the Wildcats 40-percent. UTA managed to hold Arizona to shooting 22-percent from deep while the Lady Mavs managed to shoot 25-percent from deep for the game.
The Lady Mavs managed to get to the charity stripe 26 times in comparison to Arizona's 22 free throws. UTA drilled 17 of their free throws for 65-percent while the Wildcats hit 19 of their free throws for 86-percent.
UTA stayed within striking distance in the first half, trailing by seven going into the second quarter. The second quarter was the lowest scoring quarter for the Lady Mavs, putting up just seven points but managed to hold the Wildcats to their lowest point total for a quarter with 13. UTA trailed by 13 going into the half.
Coming out the half, UTA managed to put up their best scoring totals with 15 in the third and 18 in the fourth.
