Mavs Face Stern Test Against #19 Ranked Texas Tech

ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington baseball team will compete against the #19 ranked Red Raiders of Texas Tech in the Kubota College Series at Globe Life Field on Tuesday.

QUICK FACTS
  • Parker Airhart made his presence known against UTSA, crushing 2 HR's along with 4 RBI's. He currently has the highest OPS on the squad, with a staggering 1.001 mark.
  • Tyson Pointer currently leads the team in batting average, slashing .375 throughout four games.
  • Throughout four games, newcomers Jordan Medellin, Tate Bethel, Parker Airhart and Ryan Ellis have torched the offensive side of the ball, accounting for 6 RBI's,  half of the teams total on the early season.
  • UTA has gotten off to a slow start throughout the past few seasons, however Clay Van Hook looks to turn that around. With a split-series against a challenging UTSA squad, the Mavs are building on tough competition in order to prepare for the WAC tournament.
  • The Mavs bullpen has shown massive improvement from a season ago. Caylon Dygert, the freshman, shined his collegiate debut with 8 innings of holding the Roadrunners of UTSA to 0 runs. Caden Noah leads the Mavs in strikeouts with 7, and lefties Harrison Hammond and Jacob Hasty have yet to allow any runs.
  • UTA is scheduled to play six teams who have competed for the NCAA Regional Tournament within the last few years. With the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and TCU slated for a two-game series. UT Arlington will also host Boston College for a three-game series at home. Additionally, the Mavs will travel to Austin for a bout against the Texas Longhorns.
  • The Mavericks are projected to place 5th in the WAC this season according to preseason coaches' poll.
