BEAUMONT, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team will face the Lamar Cardinals this weekend, Mar. 1-3.
Throughout nine games played, the Mavericks have committed 12 errors so far. Last season the Mavs also had 12 errors through the same number of games. Additionally, returners
Garrison Berkley,
Tyson Pointer and
Tyce Armstrong have struggled to get their bats rolling.
Berkley currently has a .167 batting average throughout the season, the second lowest on the team. However, he leads the team in RBIs (8) and has the fourth most total bases on the team with twelve.
Pointer and Armstrong, the Mavs long-ball hitters, have also started to get things going offensively so far this season. Last year, Pointer and Armstrong accounted for 11 home runs and 61 RBIs, this season the duo have not cranked any homeruns and have only plated 7 RBIs.

- This will be the Mavericks 121st meeting against the Cardinals, with the Mavs trailing the all-time series, 42-79.
- Dating back to 2009, UTA holds a 3-6 record at Vincent-Beck Stadium, and this will also be the first time since Mar. 18, 2012 that the Mavs will play in Beaumont, Texas.
- Zach Norris took home WAC player of the week after a 13-strikeout performance in his Friday start against Boston College on Feb. 23. Additionally, he ranks T-26th in the NCAA for strikeouts, just 7 strikeouts behind the leader.

After the weekend clash against Lamar, UTA will host Arizona State at Clay Gould Ballpark on Tuesday, Mar. 5 at 1 pm. Following the midweek game, UTA will host Utah Tech for the first WAC series of the year, Mar. 8-10.
