ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington baseball standout
Garrison Berkley has been named to the 2024 Preseason All-WAC Team as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Behind an impressive season a year ago, his first in Arlington, Berkley led the Mavericks in several statistical batting categories as well as being the only Mav to appear in all 58 games, making 58 starts in center field. He led the team in batting average (.365), hits (85), doubles (20), on-base percentage (.457), at-bats (233), runs (60) and total bases (121).
Berkley was the lone Mav to be named to the 2023 WAC All-Tournament Team a season ago. In the five games at the tourney, Berkley went 11-21 for a .524 average with three RBIs and accounted for six runs scored. Out of his 11 hits, he smacked one homerun, one triple and one double while drawing one walk and being hit by a pitch.
The Aledo, Texas product was a part of UTA baseball history at Houston when the team hit a school-record eight homeruns in one game, in which Berkley contributed two homeruns.
Throughout the season, he strung together a 32-game reached base streak, finishing the year with an 11-game reached base streak. He also had a 10-game hit streak on the season. He led the Mavs with 26 multi-hit games.
