ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team will face off against the SFA Lumberjacks in a conference series at Clay Gould Ballpark in Arlington, Texas from Mar. 22-24.
QUICK FACTS
- The Mavericks hold an all-time record of 43-29 against the Lumberjacks.
- Last season, UTA took down SFA two games to one, defeating the Lumberjacks in the first game 9-8, while falling 11-12 in the second game. The Mavs were able to take the series 11-3 in the final game.
- UTA ranks 3rd in the NCAA in walks allowed per nine innings with an astonishing 2.96 rate. Additionally, the Mavs pitching staff have only allowed 59 walks throughout 21 games, which ranks 6th in the NCAA.
- In WAC play, JD Moreno has the highest batting average for the Mavs with a an average of .385. Three other Mavs are batting in the 300's for conference play, with Tyson Pointer (.360), Tate Bethel (.348) and Caylon Dygert (.333) all slashing above the .300 line.
- The Mavs currently sit 6th in the WAC standings with a conference record of 3-3
- The Mavs offense has started to catch fire, scoring 25 runs throughout the last four games played. Those 25 runs are also the Mavs most runs scored in a four-game stretch all season. Additionally, the total runs accumulated over the last four games are just one shy of the teams total runs throughout the first eight games of March (26).
- The trio of Ryan Black, Garrison Berkley and Tyson Pointer have started all 21 games for the Mavs, the only members of the UTA squad to do so.
OPPONENT HISTORY
This will be the 73rd, 74th and 75th time the Mavericks face off against the Lumberjacks. Throughout the last 15 times the teams have faced off, UTA have gone 10-5 against SFA, scoring an average of 7.33 runs in those games.
