UTA NOTES (15-25, 6-7)
- UTA split its midweek doubleheader with WAC opponent Stephen F. Austin as the Mavericks sit on an overall record of 15-25 and 6-7 in conference play.
- After a tough extra-inning battle between both programs, the Mavericks suffered a 6-5 loss to SFA despite holding the Jacks to a 5-2 ball game up until the top of the 7th. After a scoreless 8th and 9th inning, SFA went on to pick up the series opener.
- UTA relied solely off the arm of left-handed pitcher Abi Gutierrez who went on to etch her name in program history, reaching a new milestone of 13 strike outs in a single game as that number is now the ninth-most in program lore.
- Senior Morgan Westbrook took advantage of her opportunity with runners in scoring position as the righty knocked a three-run home run – her first of the season – that lifted UTA to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
- Fifth-year transfer has had an outstanding 2024 campaign as the lefty holds a team-high .421 batting average with 48 hits, 114 at-bats, 13 walks, six stolen bases and an on-base percentage of .477. Along with Corona leading the way in several statistical batting categories, she also leads with 13 multi-hit efforts on the season after recording two in Wednesday night's doubleheader with SFA.
- First baseman Lindsey Franklin paces UTA with 27 RBI off 39 hits as she sits on a .556 slugging percentage and 60 total bases. The power-hitter has five home runs under her belt with eight multi-RBI contests – most on the team.
- Across the last five games, Corona is 8-16 at the plate with a pair of doubles and three walks. Not to mention the standout is riding a nine-game hitting streak as she looks to match her season-high of 12 games.
- In the circle, junior Jessica Adams continues to lead the charge with a 3.06 ERA as the right-hander leads the Mavericks' pitching rotation with 77.2 innings of work. While limiting opponents to a .258 batting average, Adams has thrown five complete games with four shutouts.
- After her electric performance on the mound against the Ladyjacks, Gutierrez now leads the Mavs with 35 strike outs on the season and six wins.
- As a staff, UTA holds a 5.12 ERA.
