OREM, UTAH – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team will face off against the Utah Valley Wolverines in a conference series from Friday through Sunday, April 19-21, at the UCCU Ballpark on the campus of Utah Valley.

QUICK FACTS

• The Mavericks currently sit in 6th place in the WAC standings with a conference record of 10-8. The Utah Valley Wolverines have a record of 10-5 in conference games, which has them 4th in the conference rankings.
• Tyson Pointer currently leads the team in hits with 46, and batting average, slashing .313 on the year. The Dallas native has also tallied the most at bats on the squad with 147 at bats and recorded a team-leading 3 stolen bases on the season, nabbing a base in all three of his attempts.
• The Mavericks boast the 2nd best walks allowed per nine innings in the NCAA with a mark of 2.75. Caylon Dygert leads the way on the team with a .98 mark on the season, walking just 7 batters in 64.1 innings pitched and ranks 6th in the entire NCAA. Zach Norris, a native of Paris, Texas, ranks 26th in the NCAA in walks allowed per nine innings with a rate of 1.45 walks allowed per nine innings. Additionally, Norris currently ranks 29th in the NCAA in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a mark of 5.88.
• Ryan Black, the sophomore out of Grand Prairie, Texas, ranks T-16th in the NCAA with 15 doubles on the season. Black also has 2 triples on the season which not only lead the team, but ranks 2nd in the conference.
• The Mavericks pitching staff currently holds the 4th best ERA in the Western Athletic Conference with a 5.04 average. The staff also has the 2nd most saves in the conference with 7 on the season so far and have allowed the 3rd fewest home runs, allowing just 34 on the season.
• Ryan Ellis, who has drawn a team-leading 27 walks, ranks 2nd in the conference in reaching a base on balls.

 
OPPONENT HISTORY
This will be the 5th, 6th and 7th time the Mavs will face off against the Wolverines, with the last game resulting in a 16-0 win for the Wolverines in the semifinal matchup of the 2023 WAC Championship.
 
Throughout regular season play, the Mavs own a record of 1-2 against Utah Valley after a conference series last year. In those three regular season games, the Mavs have plated an average of 5 runs a game against the Wolverines.
 
ON DECK
After the conclusion of the weekend series, the Mavs will head south to Austin for a midweek game against the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 6:00 p.m.
