ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team will face off against the Sacramento State Hornets in a conference series from May 3-4.
Due to inclement weather, Friday will be a doubleheader with the first game taking place at 2 pm with the second game following the conclusion of game one. Saturday's game time is TBD, dependent on weather.

- The Mavericks currently sit in 6th place in the WAC standings with a conference record of 12-9.
- Tyson Pointer currently leads the team with 57 total hits throughout the season. The Dallas native has also tallied the most at bats on the squad with 180 at bats and recorded a team-leading 6 stolen bases on the season, nabbing a base in all three of his attempts. Pointer, during the last conference series against Utah Valley last a week ago, he mashed 2 homeruns and recorded 4 RBIs. In the series against Houston, Pointer roped in another 2 HRs (One was inside-the-park) and was a triple shy of the cycle in Sunday's loss to Houston on April 28. Pointer also recorded 3 stolen bases in the loss to Baylor last Tuesday.
- Tate Bethel has dominated his last three starts by racking up 6 hits in 12 at bats, with two triples in his three-game span.
- The Mavericks boast the 2nd best walks allowed per nine innings in the NCAA with a mark of 2.91. Caylon Dygert leads the way on the team with a 1.47 mark on the season, walking just 12 batters in 73.1 innings pitched and ranks 15th in the entire NCAA. Zach Norris, a native of Paris, Texas, ranks 59th in the NCAA in walks allowed per nine innings with a rate of 1.91 walks allowed per nine innings. Additionally, Norris currently ranks 57th in the NCAA in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a mark of 4.42.
- Ryan Black, the sophomore out of Grand Prairie, Texas, ranks T-17th in the NCAA with 18 doubles on the season. Black also has 2 triples on the season which not only leads the team, but also ranks T-2nd in the conference.
- Ryan Ellis, who has drawn a team-leading 29 walks, ranks 2nd in the conference in reaching a base on balls. During the game on Friday, Apr. 19, against Utah Valley, Ellis tied the program's single-game hitting record by racking in 5 hits in the win. The Arizona native went 5-for-5 with 3 doubles with an RBI. He also sits 2nd on the team in batting average with a mark of .308.
- Parker Airhart leads the team in homeruns with 10 longballs on the season and has also brought in the most RBIs on the team with 36. The Sugar Land, Texas native has also tallied the second most total bases on the squad with 86 throughout the season.
- Both Ryan Black and Tyson Pointer have started in all 45 games this season, the only Mavericks to do so.
OPPONENT HISTORY
This will be the 7th, 8th and 9th all-time matchup between the Hornets and the Mavericks dating all the way back to 2013.
The Mavericks hold an all-time record of 5-1 against the Hornets. The last win for UTA came last year in a 12-10 win on Apr. 16, 2023.
