FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore
Madison Pippins earned a quarterfinal bid in the 100m dash to lead the UT Arlington track and field team at the NCAA West Prelims on Thursday at John McDowell Field.
Pippins finished 4th in her heat but moved on by having the 17th fastest time. She clocked in with a time of 11.16, a new collegiate outdoor personal best.
Winnie Kipsang just missed qualifying for the quarterfinals in the 800m. Despite finishing 22nd overall with a time of 2:07.19, Kipsang finished 5th in a very stout heat.
Adeyemi Talabi ran a season's best time of 11.40 in the 100m dash but was not able to qualify for Saturday. In the 400m,
Alexis Cain finished 34th with a new personal record of 53.42.
In the 400m hurdles, sophomore
Zaire Moore posted a time of 1:00.58 to finish 41st overall.
The men will take center stage on Friday as they get rolling at 10:00 a.m. with field events followed by a 2:00 p.m. start on the track side.
