ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams remained ranked in the latest regional rankings released by the USTFCCCA earlier this week on Monday, Sept. 16.
The women fell one spot, from No. 11 in the preseason rankings to No. 12 for week one rankings while the men dropped two spots, from No. 9 to No. 11 in the newly updated regional rankings.
The Mavericks are three races into their 2024 season with two more regular season meets to go before the Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships and NCAA South Central Regionals.
Matro Jepkemboi has been spectacular so far during her sophomore campaign, being named WAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week once during the season already as well as having two top 10 finishes. Fellow sophomore
Winnie Kipsang has also been fantastic to start the season, garnering three top 20 finishes, including two top 10 finishes.
On the men's side,
Jackson Cichon and
Patrick Estes have been the catalysts for the Mavs with Estes posting two top 10 finishes while Cichon has posted one top 10 finish and one top 15 finish.
The Mavs return to action next Saturday, Sept. 28, as they travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State.
