ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington head men's tennis coach
Diego Benitez announced the 2025 spring slate on Monday, Jan. 13 afternoon.
Benitez returns for his 20th season as head coach after leading the men's team to back-to-back Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season and tournament titles, as well as back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
The men will be looking for the trifecta this spring with a roster that returns four from last season.
Andres Medus who earned All-WAC First Singles Team honors and
Meethre Barot who earned All-WAC Second Singles Team honors return along with
Pedro Sasso and
Yazid Lahjomri.
The men's team will kick off the spring season on the road in Norman, Oklahoma to face the Sooners on Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. The first of eight home matches is set for Jan. 22 against Pepperdine.
The Mavericks will compete in two spring tournaments. The Cajun Winter Classic is set for Feb. 7-8 at the Cajun Courts in Lafayette, Louisiana. They will also play in the 61st annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center in Corpus Christi on Feb. 21-22. Opponents for those events will be announced at a later date.
UTA's first WAC matchup is scheduled for Feb. 27 on the road at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion against Abilene Christian. The Mavs will host the Wildcats on April 3 to close out the regular season.
The Mavericks will host the WAC Tournament at the Arlington Tennis Center from April 17-19.
