Track & Field Ready To Kick Off 2025 Indoor Season At The Owen Hewett Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. – The entirety of the men's and women's UT Arlington track and field teams are set to begin their indoor season as they will compete in the Owen Hewett Invitational hosted by Oklahoma on Friday, Jan. 17.
 
The meet will be held at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex and Mosier Indoor Track Facility with field events beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the open men's weight throw and concludes with the invite women's weight throw at 7:15 p.m. Running events kick off at 9 a.m. with the open women's mile run and wraps up with the invite men's 4x400 meter relay at 7:55 p.m.

COMPETING TEAMS
Along with UTA and the host Oklahoma, the following teams are scheduled to compete: Angelo State, Arkansas – Pine Bluff, Cameron, Central Oklahoma, East Texas A&M, Hardin – Simmons, Jacksonville College, Langston, LeTourneau, Mid – America Christian, Midwestern State, Nelson, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma State, Ranger College, Science & Arts, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene, Southwestern Christian, St. Edwards, St. Thomas – Texas, Tabor, and Texas Lutheran.
 
STORYLINES
  • The reigning Western Athletic Conference Indoor Freshman of the Year, Winnie Kipsang, is ready to kick off her sophomore campaign. Last season she posted the second fastest 800 meters time (2:06.99) as well as the fourth fastest mile time (4:52.69) in program history.
  • The 5000 meters school record holder in Matro Jepkemboi is prepped for her sophomore season.
  • Randon Gray returns for his final season donning the blue and orange a year after setting the school record of 5.37 meters in the pole vault.
  • Brady Shadrick returns looking to move up in the program record books, currently sits fourth in the heptathlon with a score of 5,267 points.
