ARLINGTON, Texas – Head tennis coach Diego Benitez announced the 2025 spring portion of the UT Arlington women's tennis schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 21 afternoon.
 
Benitez returns for his 20th season as head coach of the women's tennis team. The Mavericks went 15-8 last season with a 4-3 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) record. The Mavs held an 8-5 record at home while going 6-2 on the road and 1-1 at neutral sites. In the WAC Tournament, the Mavs came in as the No. 3 overall seed and advanced to the semifinals where they fell to the No. 2 seed Tarleton State Texans.
 
UTA returns three players from last year's squad in Ioana Dumitrescu, Nika Novikova and Ana Paula Jiminez while welcoming three newcomers in Maria Lucia Araoz-Gosn, Valeriia Ivanovskaia and Mialy Ranaivo.
 
The women's team will kick off the spring season on the road in Houston, Texas when the take on Portland at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on the campus of Houston on Jan. 25. The Mavs follow that match up with the Cougars of Houston on Jan. 26. Their first home match is a doubleheader on Feb. 1 when they take on Cowley College and Dallas Baptist.
 
The Mavs play their first conference match on Feb. 9 when they host Grand Canyon for a 10 a.m. match. The conference slate wraps up on April 10 when the Mavs take on Tarleton State in Stephenville. Postseason play begins April 17-19 with the Mavs hosting the WAC Tournament in Arlington, Texas.
