How It Happened
UTA opened the game strong offensively, trading punches with the Lopes and took a 25-24 advantage after Seamster finished an alley-oop from guard Darius Burford just ahead of a media timeout. It was however, a 16-4 run in the final five minutes of the first half that allowed GCU to stretch its lead to 14, at 46-32.
Forward/center Lance Ware was ejected midway through the second half and the subsequent four free throws that resulted from both technicals pushed the GCU advantage to 20. Grand Canyon kept widening its lead after intermission, leading by as many as 30 before UT Arlington trimmed it to 98-75 at the final whistle.
