AUSTIN & HOUSTON, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team wrapped up the dual meet week with the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Victor Lopez Classic this afternoon. Several Mavericks put on strong showings throughout the week that saw a couple of wins.
At the Texas Relays,
Alex Kalmar continued to show his dominance from indoor season on the outdoor track, taking first in the men's 800m with a time of 1:47.86. His teammate,
Kash Powell, finished not far behind in third with a time of 1:49.12.
In the same race on the women's side,
Winnie Kipsang finished third with a time of 2:05.16.
In the men's pole vault,
Randon Gray picked up right where he left off with another first place finish, this time with a mark of 5.30m.
Over at the Victor Lopez Classic, Powell continued his great week in the men's 800m, this time finishing in first with a time of 1:48.70.
ADDITIONAL TOP FINISHES
- Matro Jepkemboi finished in the top 10 of the women's 5000m at the Texas Relays, finishing ninth with a time of 16:36.34.
- In the men's decathlon, Luke Bontke finished seventh with 7232 total point.
NEXT UP
The Mavs will be back in action this upcoming Friday, April 4, when they travel to Denton to compete in the Bill Schmidt Invite.
