COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field teams wrapped up day one of the highly competitive 44 Farms Team Invitational down in College Station from E.B. Cushing Stadium which saw several personal and season bests from the Mavericks.
The meet kicked off with the heptathlon and decathlon before moving into field events with running events starting in the evening.
Brady Shadrick currently sits in fourth while
Christian Coker sits in eighth in the decathlon after five events. Shadrick has 3819 points while Coker has 3714 points after day one. The 100m dash kicked off the event which saw Shadrick finish with an outdoor personal best time of 11.09. Moving onto the long jump, Shadrick added another outdoor personal best with a leap of 6.93m. Coker had a top five placement in the high jump, finishing fourth after a mark of 1.92m for 731 points.
The 400m wrapped up day one of the decathlon which saw both Shadrick and Coker finish with outdoor personal bests and top 10 finishes. Shadrick placed fourth after a time of 49.31 while Coker finished tied for sixth with a time of 49.76. Shadrick finished the day with three new outdoor personal records while Coker finished with one in a crowded and competitive field.
Moving over to field events, we saw an outdoor personal record and an outdoor season's best in the men's discus throw.
Logan Villalva posted a personal record of 47.90m while
Austin Nkwoparah finished with a season's best mark of 45.08m.
In the women's long jump,
Adeyemi Talabi finished with an outdoor personal best of 5.35m.
In the men's pole vault, freshmen
Ethan Saenz and
Riley Cronin both posted outdoor personal records on the day. Saenz finished with a mark of 4.85m while Cronin finished with a mark of 4.55m.
Alexis Cain posted an outdoor personal best in the women's 200m with a time of 23.97. Freshman Nick Ross finished with an outdoor personal record in the men's 200m with a time of 21.49.
In the women's 400m hurdles,
Zaire Moore posted a season's best time of 1:00.14 for a top 10 finish, coming in tenth.
Krianne McBride posted a top 10 finish after running a season's best time in the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.45 which saw her finish ninth overall. On the men's side,
Daniel Armstrong finished with a season's best time of 1:52.02.
The men's and women's 5000m wrapped up day one of the meet which saw Racheal Hartley finish with an outdoor personal record of 18:30.70 on the women's side while Andres Gurrola posted an outdoor personal best of 14:46.34 on the men's side.

The second and final day of the 44 Farms Team Invitational concludes on Saturday, April 12, for the UTA track and field teams. The conclusion of the decathlon kicks off day two at 11 a.m. CT followed by field events starting at 2 p.m. CT followed by running events set to begin at 6 p.m. CT.
