COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A program record and a top three finish highlighted the final day of the 44 Farms Team Invitational for the UT Arlington track and field teams on Saturday.
Abigail Flores finished in the top half of a crowded women's discus field after launching an outdoor program record mark of 50.97m. The throw also marks a new personal best for the senior from Rio Grande City.
In the women's 1500m Invite,
Matro Jepkemboi snagged a top three finish after finishing in 4:29.46. The time marks a new outdoor personal record for the sophomore from Kenya while finishing third overall in the event.
Christian Coker finished in the top ten of the decathlon, placing tenth overall with 6655 total points. In the five final events that were left for Saturday, Coker placed top three in one while finishing with a personal best in the other. In the javelin throw, Coker tossed a personal best of 49.19m while in the 1500m he finished third with a time of 4:35.17.
Tin the men's pole vault invite,
Randon Gray faced off with some of the best vaulters in the country. Gray finished seventh after posting a 5.33m mark.
In the men's high jump, JJ Taylor and
Calen Jones both posted season best marks while Jonathan Williams posted a new outdoor personal record. Taylor finished with a jump of 2.04m while Jones posted a mark of 1.99m. The freshman Williams finished with a new personal mark of 1.94m.
ADDITIONAL TOP FINISHES/MARKS
- In the women's 100m hurdles, Eliza Lemberga finished with a season's best time of 14.81.
- Freshman Ayden Nyanasimeibi posted a new outdoor personal best of 48.68 in the men's 400m.
- Adeyemi Talabi finished with a season's best time of 11.51 in the women's 100m dash.
- In the men's 100m dash, four Mavericks posted season best times. Khalid Mendez (10.49), Malachi Barendilla (10.58), Brian Brown (10.59) and Eli England (10.61).
- The women's 4x100m relay team ran a season's best time of 45.99.
- Allissa Rodriguez threw a new outdoor personal record of 44.56m in the women's javelin throw.
NEXT UP
The Mavs have double duty next week as they compete in the three-day Bryan Clay Invitational and in the two-day Michael Johnson Invite. The Bryan Clay Invitational takes place in Azusa, California beginning on Wednesday, April 16, and goes through Friday, April 18, while the Michael Johnson Invite takes place in Waco from Friday, April 18, through Saturday, April 19.
