AZUSA, Calif. & WACO, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field teams concluded the Bryan Clay Invitational out in California and day one of the Michael Johnson Invite down in Waco on Friday.
Wrapping up the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational in the wee hours of the morning, 1 a.m. central time,
Matro Jepkemboi broke her own school record in the women's 5000m with a new blazing personal record of 16:14.72. Jepkemboi finished in the top 10, finishing tenth overall against some of the best runners in the country.
Down in Waco on the campus of Baylor,
Randon Gray continued his dominant outdoor season with yet another top three finish. Gray took third with a vault of 5.27m, just short of his season's best mark of 5.33m. Gray still sits in 17th on the NCAA Div. I West Outdoor qualifying list.
Jaalah Puryear posted a new personal record in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 53.06m and a seventh-place finish. She bested her previous record by almost 2.5m.
In the men's hammer throw,
Logan Villalva finished eighth after posting a new personal record of 56.18m. He bested his previous record by nearly a full 5m.
