UT Arlington Drops Tough 12-3 Matchup to Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas - The UT Arlington Mavericks struggled on Wednesday, falling to the No. 12 Texas Tech Red Raiders by final score of 12-3.

Sophomore Abi Gutierrez (4-4) got the ball to start for UT Arlington (22-20, ) and took the loss.

At the plate, the Mavericks were paced by freshman Madi McDonnell, who went 1-1 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Junior Marley Neises put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mavericks were trailing 10-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. UT Arlington scored three times, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of McDonnell. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as Texas Tech added two runs to their tally on the way to a 12-3 final.

GAME NOTES

» UT Arlington's highest scoring inning was the third, when it pushed three runs across.
» UT Arlington pitchers faced 29 Texas Tech hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and four fly balls while striking out two.
» McDonnell led the Mavericks at the plate, going 1-1 with a home run and three RBI.
» Texas Tech was led offensively by junior Mihyia Davis, who went 4-4 with a double, a triple, a home run and four RBI.
» Junior Chloe Riassetto led the Red Raiders pitching staff, throwing one shutout inning.
