LUBBOCK, Texas - The UT Arlington Mavericks struggled on Wednesday, falling to the No. 12 Texas Tech Red Raiders by final score of 12-3.
Sophomore Abi Gutierrez (4-4) got the ball to start for UT Arlington (22-20, ) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Mavericks were paced by freshman Madi McDonnell, who went 1-1 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Junior Marley Neises put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks were trailing 10-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. UT Arlington scored three times, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of McDonnell. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as Texas Tech added two runs to their tally on the way to a 12-3 final.
