FORT WORTH - The UT Arlington baseball team (14-26, 6-9 WAC) will face the TCU Horned Frogs (31-13, 14-7) in a midweek matchup tomorrow, Apr. 29 at 6 p.m.
The Mavs hold an all-time record of 63-115-1 over the Horned Frogs, including a 23-67 record on the road. The Mavs currently hold a 3-2 record over the Horned Frogs over the last five matchups.
GAME NOTES
- According to D1Baseball.com, the Mavs currently have the toughest schedule within the Western Athletic Conference with the 17th hardest non-conference schedule in the country, and the 20th hardest overall schedule in the country.
- In the conference series against GCU last weekend, the Mavs blasted 8 homeruns in the series and outscored the preseason conference favorites 26-20.
- In conference play, Joe Steeber currently ranks fourth in ERA, and second among starters, with a mark of 3.04 over four appearances. The Southlake, Texas native has allowed just two walks over 23.2 innings played in conference play.
- Tyce Armstrong, a native of Conroe, Texas, leads the Mavs in homeruns (10), RBI (24), and total bases (85).
- In the series against Tarleton, the Mavericks blasted nine homeruns over the weekend. The nine homeruns are the most in a series since the Mavs jacked nine in a two-game series against Houston in 2023. freshmen Austin Phillips and Cade Dodson put together an excellent week of hitting each averaging .500 over the four victories during the week.
- In conference play, the Mavs pitching staff ranks second in the WAC with an ERA of 4.32, allowing just 40 earned runs over a span of nine conference games. The staff also ranks first in runs allowed (50), home runs allowed (6) and third in hits allowed with (97). The Mavs have also only allowed only 16 walks in conference play, with the next closest team having 30 (Tarleton State).
- Individually in conference play, Austin Phillips currently sits 10th in the conference with a batting average of .387. The true freshman transfer has put together 12 hits, tone homer, two doubles and seven RBI in eight conference games played.
- Last season, UTA held a record of 11-13 at Clay Gould Ballpark and held a record of 5-6 in their final 11 home games of the season. This season, the Mavs have opened up 7-11 at home.
