BEAUMONT, Texas - The UT Arlington baseball team (8-17, 2-4 WAC) will face the Lamar Cardinals (24-7, 9-6 SLC) in a non-conference series at Vincent-Beck Stadium from Apr. 4-6.
The Mavs hold an all-time record of 43-81 over the Cardinals, including an 26-49 record on the road.
GAME NOTES
- Tyce Armstrong, a native of Conroe, Texas, leads the Mavs in homeruns (5), RBI (21), hits (32) total bases (54) and batting average (.323).
- In conference play, the Mavs pitching staff ranks second in the WAC with an ERA of 3.09, allowing just 19 earned runs over a span of six conference games. The staff also ranks tied for first in walks allowed (19), third in hits (24) and fifth in strikeouts (24). The Mavs have also only allowed one homerun in conference play
- On the offensive side, the Mavs ranks second in the conference with 26 drawn walks, and are the only team in the conference that haven't grounded into a double play in WAC play.
- Individually in conference play, Xavier Melendez currently sits 6th in the conference with a batting average of .435. The Midland College transfer has put together 10 hits, two doubles and six RBI in six conference games played.
- Defensively, the Mavs have turned an astounding 10 double plays in six conference games. Which leads the WAC by three.
- The Mavs rank second in the conference in double plays turned with 21 on the season, and lead conference play with three.
- Sophomore Nicholas Robb and senior Caden Noah pitched 10 innings of shutout ball against the Sacramento State Hornets on Saturday, Mar. 22. The duo allowed just four hits, a run while striking out ten batters.
- The Mavs feature five true freshman and 23 additional newcomers on the 2025 roster.
- Last season, UTA held a record of 11-13 at Clay Gould Ballpark and held a record of 5-6 in their final 11 home games of the season. This season, the Mavs have opened up 6-7 at home.
