Mavs Host Seattle U For Final Regular-Season Series

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington baseball team (18-29, 10-11 WAC) will face the Seattle U  Redhawks (18-31, 6-15 WAC) in a conference series this weekend, May 15-17, at Clay Gould Ballpark
 
The Mavs hold an all-time record of 7-6 over the Redhawks, and have never played each other in Arlington, Texas.
 
 
GAME NOTES
  • According to D1Baseball.com, the Mavs currently have the toughest schedule within the Western Athletic Conference with the 18th hardest non-conference schedule in the country, and the 54th hardest overall schedule in the country.
  • With a tournament berth clinched already, the Mavs have a chance to become to four-seed with a sweep over the Redhawks AND an Abilene Christian series win over the CBU Lancers this weekend.
  • Within conference play, no team cracks the top four in both offensive and pitching categories—except the Mavs. They currently sit second in batting average, offensive production, and team ERA.
  • The Mavs have 52 homeruns on the season, which is currently fifth most in program history. It is only the fifth time in program history a Maverick squad had over 50 homeruns.
  • Tyce Armstrong, a native of Conroe, Texas, leads the Mavs in homeruns (11), RBI (41), and total bases (100). 
  • In the series against Tarleton, the Mavericks blasted nine homeruns over the weekend. The nine homeruns are the most in a series since the Mavs jacked nine in a two-game series against Houston in 2023. 
  • Offensively, the Mavs rank second in the WAC in batting average with a mark of .313, additionally, the Mavs rank second in homeruns with 36, and trail Utah Valley by only two. The Mavs also have the second most hits (245), Slugging percentage (.506), RBI (150) and doubles (41).
  • In conference play, the Mavs pitching staff ranks second in the WAC with an ERA of 5.43, allowing just 112 earned runs over a span of 21 conference games. The Mavs have also only allowed only 49 walks in conference play, with the next closest team having 71 (Grand Canyon).
  • Individually in conference play, Xavier Melendez currently sits 9th in the conference with a batting average of .374. The Midland College transfer has put together 34 hits, seven homers, four doubles and 28 RBI.
  • Last season, UTA held a record of 11-13 at Clay Gould Ballpark and held a record of 5-6 in their final 11 home games of the season. This season, the Mavs have opened up 10-11 at home.
