Mavs Move Up The Standings On Day 2 Of The 2025 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ARLINGTON, Texas – A slight weather delay extended day two of the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships into the night which saw several Mavericks earn podium finishes, set new personal records and qualify for the finals in their respective events.

Eliza Lemberga continued to show out in the women's heptathlon which culminated in a gold medal after she posted a new personal record of 5367 points. Lemberga lead through four events coming into day two with 3082 points and continued that dominance as she took one of the top two spots in each of the final three events. In the javelin throw, Lemberga took first after a new outdoor personal best of 43.12m while taking second in the long jump with a new personal best of 5.67m. She also took the top spot in the 800m with a time of 2:21.17.

On the final day of the men's decathlon, Brady Shadrick claimed the bronze medal while Christian Coker took fourth. Shadrick posted an outdoor personal best of 39.96m in the discus throw while posting top five finishes in four of the five final events in the decathlon. He took first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.66m, second in the javelin with a distance of 55.70m, fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.75 and fifth in the discus. Coker posted two new personal bests on the final day of the decathlon while placing in the top four in three of the final five events. Coker threw a new PR of 31.15m in the discus while also posting a new personal best of 4.26m in the pole vault. He took third in the 1500m with a time of 4:50.23, fourth in the javelin with a throw of 46.82m and fourth in the pole vault.

Adeyemi Talabi claimed the silver medal in the women's long jump after leaping an impressive 6.17m. The mark makes a new outdoor personal record for Talabi while also moving her to 48th best in the NCAA DI West Region.

In the men's shot put, the Mavs took the top two spots with Hayden Wilson claiming gold and Desmond Frazier taking silver. Wilson took first with a throw of 18.31m, just short of his personal best of 18.33m. Frazier took second on his final attempt where he launched it 17.57m to move up from third past Tarleton State's Mason Hill. It was his third best throw of the outdoor season. The pair went back-to-back during indoor season as well, with Wilson taking gold and Frazier taking silver during the WAC Indoor Championships.

In the middle of the preliminary round of the men's shot put and at the conclusion of the women's long jump, a two or so hour weather delay halted the day and extended the meet which would conclude in the late hours of the night.
