ST. GEORGE, Utah - The UT Arlington baseball team (17-27, 9-9 WAC) will face the Utah Tech trailblazers (19-26, 5-13 WAC) in a conference series this weekend, May 9-11, at Bruce Hurst Field.
The Mavs hold an all-time record of 5-1 over the Trailblazers, and will be making their debut at Bruce Hurst Field.
GAME NOTES
- According to D1Baseball.com, the Mavs currently have the toughest schedule within the Western Athletic Conference with the 17th hardest non-conference schedule in the country, and the 20th hardest overall schedule in the country.
- Within conference play, no team cracks the top four in both offensive and pitching categories—except the Mavs. They currently sit second in batting average, offensive production, and team ERA.
- The Mavs have 46 homeruns on the season, which is currently tied for the seventh most in program history.
- Tyce Armstrong, a native of Conroe, Texas, leads the Mavs in homeruns (11), RBI (39), and total bases (94).
- In the series against Tarleton, the Mavericks blasted nine homeruns over the weekend. The nine homeruns are the most in a series since the Mavs jacked nine in a two-game series against Houston in 2023.
- Offensively, the Mavs rank second in the WAC in batting average with a mark of .303, additionally, the Mavs rank second in homeruns with 30, and trail Utah Valley by only four. The Mavs also have the third most hits (202), RBI (128) and doubles (37).
- In conference play, the Mavs pitching staff ranks second in the WAC with an ERA of 5.18, allowing just 93 earned runs over a span of eighteen conference games. The Mavs have also only allowed only 41 walks in conference play, with the next closest team having 52 (Abilene Christian).
- Individually in conference play, Xavier Melendez currently sits 11th in the conference with a batting average of .377. The Midland College transfer has put together 29 hits, five homers, four doubles and 25 RBI in eight conference games played.
- Last season, UTA held a record of 11-13 at Clay Gould Ballpark and held a record of 5-6 in their final 11 home games of the season. This season, the Mavs have opened up 10-11 at home.

The Mavs will return to Clay Gould Ballpark for the final conference series of the season to face the Seattle U Redhawks from May 15-17, before heading to Mesa, Arizona for the WAC Baseball Tournament.
