FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four members of the UT Arlington track and field teams will compete in a last-minute addition to the outdoor schedule as they head to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Twilight.
Kash Powell,
Alex Kalmar,
Winnie Kipsang and
Randon Gray all will make the trek to the campus of Arkansas in one final tune up before the conference championships.
"All four are gunning for school records to fire up the team before the Outdoor WAC Championships next week," said head coach
John Sauerhage. "All four are tops in the league and regionally ranked pretty high and have had some of their best performances as of recently so we're confident they can get us hype."
In the men's 800m, the Mavs have two of the top runners in the Western Athletic Conference with
Alex Kalmar and
Kash Powell sitting atop the leaderboards. Not only do they sit one and two in the WAC they both sit in the top 30 in the West standings. Kalmar sits 14th in the West after his outdoor personal record time of 1:47.38 he got last week at the TCU Horned Frog Invitational while Powell holds steady in 29th with a time of 1:48.12.
On the women's side of the 800m,
Winnie Kipsang holds the top spot in the conference and sits 23rd in the West with a time of 2:04.72. She posted her season's best time at last week's TCU Horned Frog Invitational and fell just short of besting her outdoor personal record.
Randon Gray sits 22nd in the West with a mark of 5.33m as he looks to return to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
