FORT WORTH, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team opened competition at the TCU Alumni Invitational with a strong start on day one.
Freshman
Lucas Cano highlighted the day, recording a new personal best of 55.96m in the men's discus to move into second all-time UTA. He placed fourth overall and finished as the top freshman in the event.
Alana Butler also delivered a standout performance in the women's discus, earning a personal best throw of 48.03m to rank fifth all-time UTA while placing fifth in the competition.
Sophomore
Jonathan Williams posted a season-best mark of 1.95m in the men's high jump, earning a fifth-place finish.
Logan Villalva added to the day's success with a third-place finish in the men's hammer throw, recording a mark of 54.40m. Gabriel Songer recorded a personal best of 50.34m in the hammer throw.
Jaalah Puryear earned a new personal best of 55.97m in the women's hammer throw. Just .14 meters shy from the program record, the senior thrower maintains her No. 2 ranking in UTA history.

"Our throwers are on a continuous PR rampage!" said Sauerhage, "I'm really excited for them and excited to see how far they can go. The outdoor season just started!"
