FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A program record, two top three finishes and a top ten finish highlighted a successful business trip to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Twilight on Friday evening from John McDonnell Field.
Kash Powell,
Alex Kalmar,
Winnie Kipsang and
Randon Gray all had great showings as a final tune up before the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Alex Kalmar broke the school record in the men's 1500m run with a pace of 3:44.62. It's Kalmar's third program record in just his first season donning the blue and orange. He now owns the outdoor 1500m run, indoor 800m run (1:48.20) and the indoor mile run (4:03.61) Kalmar finished tenth overall at the Arkansas Twilight.
Winnie Kipsang took sixth overall in the women's 1500m run with an outdoor personal best time of 4:19.94. Kipsang now owns the top mark in the WAC in the 800m run and now the 1500m run.
"Alex's school record was nice and Winnie breaking 4:20 was great as she now leads the conference in two events," said head coach
John Sauerhage. "Randon did fine, not as we expected but regardless, he is ready for conference championships as is Kash who ran well today also."
In the men's pole vault,
Randon Gray took second overall after a vault of 5.25m. The mark ties Gray's fourth best mark on the season and now makes six times he's finished in the top three this outdoor season.
Kash Powell took second overall in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:48.17, just short of his season's best of 1:48.12 which he's posted twice this outdoor season. Powell still remains with the second fastest 800m time in the conference.

The Mavs will turn their attention to the 2025 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will be hosted by UTA at Maverick Stadium from May 15-17.
