Box Score STEPHENVILLE, Texas — UT Arlington women's basketball (8–11, 2–5 WAC) fell to Tarleton State (10-8, 4-3 WAC) on the road Wednesday night.
Laura Bello anchored UTA's effort on the glass, pulling down a team-high six rebounds as the Lady Mavs stayed within reach through the first half.
UTA was led offensively by Kali Haizlip, who finished with a team-high of seven points on the night. Nya Threatt and Kendal Robinson added six points apiece, and Alexsyah Goudeau added 5 rebounds.
After Tarleton State held a 14–13 edge after one, the Lady Mavs took control with a 10–6 second quarter to go into the half with the lead. Offensively, UT Arlington found its biggest advantage inside, building a 16–8 edge in points in the paint while also getting a lift from the bench (9–2).
The Lady Mavs leaned on their defense to swing the game in the second quarter, holding the Texans to six points in the period and no field goals over the final 6:46 of the half. UTA held Tarleton State to 22% shooting (7-of-32) in the first half.
Out of the break, Tarleton State gained control with a 14–11 third quarter before pulling away in the fourth. UTA went 0-of-15 from the field in the final period and was limited to three points in the quarter as the Texans closed the night on a 9–0 run.
UTA finished the game shooting 22.6% (12-of-53) and 2-of-13 from three, while Tarleton State hit 19-of-60 (31.7%) and 4-of-17 from beyond the arc.
