FORT WORTH, Texas – UT Arlington men's tennis has been added to the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament and opens the event at 2 p.m. Friday against the host — the TCU Horned Frogs — at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth. The Mavericks (0-1) replaced Tulsa who withdrew from the regional due to expected inclement weather over the weekend. TCU (2-1) is also hosting the Georgia Bulldogs (1-0) and Boise State Broncos (0-1) for the regional portion of the tournament. Georgia and Boise State face off at 11 a.m. Friday.
The winners of each match will face each other in a regional championship match and the losers will compete in a consolation match. The time and date of both matches are yet to be determined.
TCU, the No. 5 ranked team in the latest ITA college team rankings, is the second ranked team the Mavericks have faced in as many weeks. UTA dropped its first dual match of the spring against No. 13 Texas A&M in a 7-0 sweep. UTA's doubles teams — Saul Berdullas and
Yazid Lahjomri on Court 1 and
Axel Delva and
Finbar McGarvey on Court 2 — each pushed the Aggies in their matches, but weren't able to pick up a victory.
Friday's match is the 26th ever meeting between the Horned Frogs and Mavericks and the first since 2023. The Mavericks are 1-24 in the series, the lone win coming in 1999.
