Women's Tennis adds match against Arizona

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's tennis has added a match against a power conference foe to its schedule. The Mavericks will take on the Arizona Wildcats at no sooner than 3 p.m. Saturday at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas.

The match will make it two in a row against opponents from the Big 12 Conference to open the spring for UTA. The Mavericks (0-1) first dual match was a 4-0 loss to the Houston Cougars.

Arizona and UTA have met just once, a 6-1 Wildcat victory in 2006.

Scouting Arizona
The Wildcats enter the match with a 3-1 record. Arizona's lone loss came at the hands of ITA-ranked No. 19 USC by a 5-2 margin. The Wildcats picked up a point against the Trojans in doubles play with Danielle Tuhten and Martyna Ostrzygalo picking up a win on Court 2 while Josie Usereau and Maria Garcia were victorious on Court 3. Arizona has won every doubles point in its four dual matches this spring.

In singles play, the Wildcats are led by Ostrzygalo, a junior who features a 3-1 record playing exclusively on Court 1. Ostrzygalo's lone loss came to USC's Emma Charney — ranked No. 12 in the ITA singles rankings — in three sets. Arizona also features Tanvi Narendran and Stephanie Shogreen, both of whom are 3-0 in singles matches. Shogreen has only competed on Court 6 while Narendran is 2-0 on Court 5 and picked up her other victory on Court 6.
