ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's tennis wrapped up its weekend with a home bout against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Mavericks (2-5) had a number of close calls, but ultimately fell 7-0 to the Bulldogs (4-2).

Louisiana Tech picked up the team doubles point with strong wins on Court 1 and Court 2, but the Mavericks fought hard in singles play. Three of the six singles matchups went to a winner-take-all third set and Flora Farkaslaki won ten games in a back-and-forth Court 4 match, but ultimately fell 7-5, 7-5 to the Bulldogs' Maria Tsironi.

No match was more of a dead heat than on Court 5 where Natalia Gonzalez battled Louisiana Tech's June Vigneron. The two traded 7-5 victories in the first two sets before Vigneron outlasted Gonzalez 10-7 in the third to take the match.

Sofia Selle took Diana Starodubtseva the distance on Court 3 after winning the second set 6-2, but Starodubtseva held on for the win. Diana Kaibara similarly won the second set of her Court 2 bout against Nina Skoric to force a decisive third set, but couldn't quite seal the deal, falling 6-1.

UTA will have a few days to regroup before taking on the North Texas Mean Green at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the UTA Tennis Center.
