ST. GEORGE, Utah — UT Arlington women's basketball (10-15, 4-9 WAC) continues its Utah road swing with a conference matchup at Utah Tech (6-17, 1-12 WAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Burns Arena. Tip is set for 8 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. MT, as the Lady Mavs spend the week in the Beehive State with another road test to follow at Utah Valley on Saturday.
UTA and Utah Tech meet for the third time this season, with the Lady Mavs taking the first two meetings in Arlington, including an 84-78 double-overtime win on Feb. 5. UT Arlington has won five straight in the series and holds a 5-3 advantage all-time against the Trailblazers.
The Lady Mavs' identity continues to start on the defensive end, holding opponents to 26.0% from three 127-of-489 while forcing 19.0 turnovers per game and averaging 9.4 steals. UTA has also been strong at the rim, totaling 123 blocks on the season, 4.9 per game.
Utah Tech enters Wednesday, averaging 62.0 points per game and leaning heavily on its perimeter volume, knocking down 7.7 threes per game as a team. Senior guard Kaylee Borden paces the Trailblazers at 14.9 ppg, while Chardonnay Hartley facilitates the offense at 5.0 assists per game.
Leading the way for UTA is freshman standout
Kira Reynolds, who is averaging 12.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game with 64 total blocks on the year.
Nya Threatt adds 9.4 points and a team-best 49 assists, while
Kali Haizlip has been UTA's top perimeter threat with 30 made threes.
