OREM, Utah — UT Arlington women's basketball (10-16, 4-10 WAC) closes its Utah road stretch with a conference matchup at Utah Valley (12-12, 5-8 WAC) on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the UCCU Center. Tip is set for 2 p.m. CT / 1 p.m. MT.
UTA and Utah Valley meet for the third and final time this regular season, with the Lady Mavs looking to finish the season sweep after taking the first two meetings in Arlington (59-47 on Jan. 17 and 60-59 in OT on Feb. 7). The Lady Mavs hold a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series and have won three straight against the Wolverines.
UTA enters Saturday coming off a 60-58 setback at Utah Tech on Wednesday, despite 14 points apiece from Nya Threatt and Kira Reynolds. The Lady Mavs controlled the glass (43-27) and the paint (22-16), but turnovers proved costly (17 giveaways leading to 23 Utah Tech points).
The Lady Mavs' identity continues to start on the defensive end, holding opponents to 26.0% from three while forcing 19.0 turnovers per game and averaging 4.9 blocks. Leading the way for UTA is freshman standout Kira Reynolds (13.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg), with Threatt providing steady production and playmaking (team-best assists), while Kali Haizlip remains UTA's top perimeter threat.
Utah Valley enters the weekend with momentum after a 63-61 road win at first-place California Baptist on Wednesday. Gracie Sorenson led the way with 17 points, while Amanda Barcello added 16 and Cambree Blackham chipped in 13. On the season, Barcello paces the Wolverines at 14.2 ppg, and UVU remains one of the league's most disruptive teams, averaging 15.7 steals per game, putting ball security at the center of Saturday's story.
