SPOKANE, Wash. - The UT Arlington track & field teams concluded competition at the WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday night, as the Maverick men finished third overall with 114.5 points and the women also finished third with 153.5 points. On the men's side, Utah Valley took the men's WAC indoor title with 197.5 points, while Tarleton State took the women's title, earning 180.5 points.
The Mavericks saw over ten podium finishes on both men's and women's sides on the final day of the WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Levi Bontke started the Mavs off for the day, finishing second in the heptathlon with 5,317 points.
Freshman
Arieanna Mcpeak placed second in women's triple jump with a mark of 12.49m, while
Indyia Walton earned third place in the women's 60m hurdlers with a new personal-best time of 8.54 for the junior.
Later in the day, the Mavericks posted three 1-2 finishes.
Freshman
Lucas Cano claimed the men's shot-put title with a throw of 17.31m, while senior
Hayden Wilson secured silver at 16.89m.
In the men's 800m race, senior
Daniel Armstrong took first in at 1:49.16, followed by junior
Leo LeGrand in second at 1:50.10. The women mirrored that performance, as
Emilia Mandl won the 800m with a personal-best time of 2:09.19 and
Kayan Green finished second in a season-best 2:10.14.
Senior
Alexis Cain added two individual podium finishes, earning bronze in both the 400m and 200m. The Euclid, Ohio native posted season-best times of 54.61 in the 400m and 23.98 in the 200m.
The day ended with the quad of
Levi Bontke,
Eli England,
Jayden Haynes and Armstrong earning bronze in the men's 4x400 relay race (3:13.99) while the women, consisting of Green, Mandl, Cain and
Zoe Woods capped off the day with a win in the 4x400 (3:45.62)
At the end of competition, freshman McPeak was crowned WAC Co-Women's Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet with 16 points.
