ARLINGTON, Texas — UT Arlington women's basketball (9-13, 3-7 WAC) is right back at College Park Center on Saturday, Feb. 7 to host Utah Valley (10-11, 3-7 WAC) in a key WAC matchup. Tip is set for 1 p.m. CT and the afternoon will serve as Play4Kay at CPC.
UTA enters the weekend carrying momentum after Thursday's 84-78 double-overtime win over Utah Tech, a result that snapped a three-game road stretch and kept the Lady Mavs perfect on the week at home. Now, the Mavericks turn their attention to a Utah Valley team sitting side-by-side with UTA in the standings, making Saturday another opportunity to defend home court and push upward in the WAC race.
The matchup is also a quick rematch: UTA earned a 59-47 win over the Wolverines at College Park Center on Jan. 17. The series itself has been tight since it began in 2023, with UTA holding a narrow edge overall and strong results at CPC.
UTA continues to be paced by freshman standout Kira Reynolds, who leads the Mavericks in scoring (11.7 ppg), rebounding (7.9 rpg), and blocks (2.7 bpg), while Nya Threatt steadies the offense and is second on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg) and first in assists (2.7 apg). Kali Haizlip remains UTA's top perimeter threat, shooting 40.8% from three on the season. Defensively, UTA's identity starts on the arc — the Lady Mavs are holding opponents to 25.4% from three (first in the WAC and top-10 nationally), while Reynolds ranks among the national leaders in blocks.
Utah Valley enters at 10-11 overall and averages 63.2 points per game, led by Amanda Barcello (14.4 ppg), who has also knocked down 49 threes while shooting 40.2%from deep. The Wolverines also thrive on disruption. They average 16.1 steals per game and score 23.5 points off turnovers, putting ball security at the center of Saturday's story.
