Final Results - Charlie Thomas Invitational
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Freshman Dorcas Jepkosgei delivered a historic performance to headline UT Arlington track and field's showing at the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday at the Fasken Indoor Track, capturing first place and breaking the school record in the women's 3000 meters.
Jepkosgei crossed the line in 9:35.26, setting a new UTA program mark while earning the event victory. The freshman surpassed the previous UTA program record set by junior Matro Jepkemboi last season at the same competition (9:38.75). The reigning WAC Cross Country Freshman of the Year also topped a competitive field that included athletes from Rice, Texas State, UTRGV and UTSA.
Junior Esther Shaba advanced in the women's 60 meters, clocking a 7.50 in the prelims to place fifth overall. Freshman Aniyah Bennett recorded a personal best of 7.82 in the women's 60m.
In the distance events, Justina Lusby (5:08.04) and Abigail Perez (5:09.04) earned new personal records in the women's mile, while Kayan Green recorded a season's best in the women's 800m with a time of 2:12.93.
On the men's side, sophomore Kebede Kerlin posted a personal best in the men's 3000m (8:24.98), and freshman Hudson Irvine recorded a PR of 1:56.61 in the men's 800m.

"Dorcas and Eliza led the way! Arieanna Mcpeak jumped very well and Esther Shaba ran well also," Coach Sauerhage said, "Christian Coker had a good heptathlon!"

The Mavericks are back on the road next weekend, Feb. 13-14, for the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas, hosted by Texas Tech.
