Robert Platt Invitational – Day Two Results
HOUSTON, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team wrapped up competition at the Robert Platt Invitational on a high note Saturday, posting two event victories, two podium finishes and two standout personal records to cap off the meet.
Junior
Emilia Mandl led the charge in the women's 800 meters, claiming first place with a winning time of 2:12.80. Senior
Kayan Green followed closely behind, securing second place in the same event with a time of 2:13.98 to give the Mavericks a 1-2 finish.
Junior
Eliza Lemberga added a podium finish for UTA in women's long jump, earning third place with a mark of 5.64 meters. She also earned fourth in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters.
Abigail Perez also delivered a breakthrough performance, clocking a personal-best time of 10:22.91. Perez shaved nearly 40 seconds off her previous mark of 11:02.77.
On the men's side, junior
Leo LeGrand continued his strong season with a victory in the men's 800 meters, crossing the line first in 1:51.44.
The men's 3000 meter-run produced one of the day's most impressive performances, as junior newcomer
Kellen Frickel shattered his personal record in heat two. Frickel won the heat with a time of 8:26.56, improving his previous personal best by 37.35 seconds.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH
"We did compete, but we need more consistency from the team in all event areas. Leo and Emilia were definitely our best performances this weekend," said Coach Sauerhage. "Looking forward to a good week of training before Texas A&M."
NEXT UP
The Mavericks will head down to College Station next weekend to compete in the Charlie Thomas Invitational on February 6-7.
