SUGAR LAND, Texas – UT Arlington women's golf wrapped up day one of the Riverbend Intercollegiate, finishing in seventh out of a 16-team field after the first 36 holes. The Mavericks were buoyed by an 8-over-par 296 in the second round, tied for the third best  team score on the second 18 holes.

UTA was led by the duo of Tarini Bhoga and Nitisha Manikandesh, who finished the day within a stroke of each other and inside the top 20 individually. Bhoga placed in a tie for 11th, making her the lowest-scoring Maverick after day one for the second tournament in a row.

The sophomore shot back-to-back rounds of 1-over 73, putting her seven back of Tarleton State's Louise Depadt, the tournament leader. Bhoga's rounds were highlighted by an even-par back nine in the opening round and an even-par front nine in the second. Bhoga birdied and bogeyed three holes in both rounds.

Manikandesh sits one stroke back of Bhoga, putting her in a tie for 16th. The senior carded an even-par 72 in the second round, shooting par on 16 holes. Manikandesh also had an even front nine in round one.

Following Bhoga and Manikandesh in the standings was Kamri Gabel in a tie for 33rd. The senior recorded scores of 78-74– 152 on day one. Gabel birdied the 13th hole in both rounds and had four total on the day.

Chandler Browning and Nirjara Gulhane rounded out the Mavericks lineup. Browning is 12-over going into the final round and in a tie for 58th. Gulhane is in a tie for 71st. The junior birdied three holes in the second round and is 15-over for the tournament.

The final round of the Riverbend Intercollegiate begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land. Scoring for the tournament can be found on BirdieFire. FOLLOW ALONG
