ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's tennis dropped its second match in as many days, falling to the Texas State Bobcats 4-0. It's the first road match the Mavericks played since Feb. 1.

Texas State (8-4) gave itself an early boost in doubles play, earning wins on Court 1 and Court 2 to win the doubles point for the 10th time in 11 matches. UTA (3-10) did lead on Court 3 with Tasnime Ahamout and Natalia Gonzalez ahead of Tadiwa Mauchi and Chantajah Mills, but the match was left unfinished with the UTA duo ahead 5-4.

In singles play, Texas State picked up straight set victories on Court 2, Court 6 and Court 3 to clinch the match. None of the singles matchups ultimately saw a decisive third set. 

UTA turned in solid showings on the remaining three courts. Diana Kaibara defeated the Bobcats' Emily Niers 7-5 in the first set of her Court 1 bout and led 3-1 in the second by the time the match was called.

Sofia Selle also picked up a 7-5 win in the first set of her Court 3 tilt against Texas State's Stoney Cooks. Cooks, however, rallied for a 6-3 win in the second set. The match was left unfinished before the final set began.

On Court 5, Gonzalez was again looking to pick up a victory. The freshman defeated the Bobcats' Olivia Collins 6-3 in the first set and trailed 5-4 in the second before the match was called.

The Mavericks will head back home and regroup before a match against the Abilene Christian Wildcats. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the UTA Tennis Center.
