ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington second baseman Xavier Melendez has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week after a dominant performance at the plate during the Mavericks' series victory over No. 24 UTSA this past weekend in San Antonio.

Melendez played a key role in UTA taking two of three games from the nationally ranked Roadrunners, finishing the series 7-for-15 (.467) with a double, a home run and nine RBI while posting a .579 on-base percentage and .733 slugging percentage across the three-game set.

The junior infielder delivered several pivotal hits throughout the weekend, helping power the Maverick offense during the series win. Melendez recorded three hits and five RBI in the series opener, then added two hits and three RBI in Saturday's 11–8 victory that secured the series for UT Arlington. He finished the weekend with two more hits and an RBI in the finale.

UTA's offense was a major factor in the series win, with Melendez anchoring the middle of the lineup as the Mavericks scored 11 runs in Saturday's clinching victory and totaled 26 runs across the three games against the ranked Roadrunners.

The honor recognizes the top weekly performer in the Western Athletic Conference and marks a strong individual milestone for Melendez while highlighting UT Arlington's momentum following the program's series win over a nationally ranked opponent.
