HUMBLE, Texas – UT Arlington men's golf wrapped up a windy day one at the All-American Intercollegiate, completing the first two rounds. The Mavericks currently sit in 12th place after the first 36 holes and were led by Arth Sinha who used a big second round to vault into a tie for third place on a day in which players battled steady 20 mph winds.

Sinha rose 25 spots and into contention with his 1-under-par 71 in the second round. The freshman was one of just two players in the 80-golfer field to card a second round under par. Sinha birdied four holes and parred 11 in the second round to end his day with a 5-over 149. 

The Melbourne, Florida native is six strokes back of Tarleton State's Alvaro Pastor, who leads the tournament at 1-under. Pastor was the only player besides Sinha below par in the second round, posting a 6-under 66. 

Ajay Morris also had a strong opening day. The freshman is tied for 24th with an 11-over 155. Morris' day was highlighted by a 3-over 75 in the opening round in which he parred 11 holes and had a pair of birdies.

Next on the leaderboard for UTA was Nicholas Lyman. The freshman will enter the final round in a tie for 66th after carding an 18-over 162 that included 13 pars in the second round. 

Matthew Broder bounced back in the second round with a 2-over 74 that lifted him eight spots into a tie for 72nd. The junior improved by 16 strokes between rounds. Michael Chevalier capped off the UTA lineup in a tie for 77th. The junior improved his score by nine strokes between the first and second round.

Competing individually was Jen chie Huang who ended the day in a tie for eighth place among the independent players. Huang enters the third round with a 13-over 157.

The final round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble. FOLLOW ALONG
