UTA enters the game at 8-15 and will look to build momentum away from home against a Sam Houston squad that comes in at 11-12.

- UT Arlington's pitching staff continues to be led by Caylon Dygert, who owns a 1.91 ERA across six starts this season. Dygert has worked 37.2 innings and struck out 24 while holding opponents to a .206 batting average.
- Kyle Winkler has also been a steady arm for the Mavericks, posting a 2.16 ERA over five appearances and 16.2 innings. Merek Sears has added 12 appearances out of the bullpen and enters the game with a 3.48 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
- Offensively, Xavier Melendez leads the Mavericks with a .378 batting average and 37 hits. Austin Phillips is batting .319 with 23 hits and 10 RBI, while Harold Laracuente is hitting .294 with 25 hits and 18 runs scored.
