ARLINGTON, Texas – Three UT Arlington players swept the weekly Western Athletic Conference women's tennis awards.
Diana Kaibara is the WAC singles player of the week while the duo of
Tasnime Ahamout and
Natalia Gonzalez won doubles players of the week after their performances in the Mavericks 5-2 win over the Abilene Christian Wildcats.
Ahamout and Gonzalez scored a strong 6-2 victory on Doubles Court 2 over ACU's Victoria Correa and Angela Del Campo. The win helped the Mavericks win their third doubles point of the spring.
The freshman duo is now 3-2 in dual matches this spring, the matchup against the Wildcats being the pairing's first outing on Court 2. The two had been competing exclusively on Court 3 this spring.
Kaibara's honors come off the back of a win over ACU's Maria Cascos in straight sets. Kaibara won 6-4, 6-2 on Court 2 and was one of four Mavericks to win their singles bout.
The freshman has competed on the top four courts at least one time in dual matches. Kaibara's win over Cascos was her first on Court 2 this spring.
