WBB Hosts Tarleton State Thursday at CPC on Hometown Heroes Night

ARLINGTON, Texas — UT Arlington women's basketball (10-18, 4-12 WAC) returns to the College Park Center to host Tarleton State (12-16, 6-11 WAC) at 6:30 p.m. CT as part of Hometown Heroes night.

UTA and Tarleton State have already met twice this season in Stephenville, with the Texans taking both decisions, 66-57 on Dec. 29 and 51-37 on Jan. 21, setting up a chance for the Lady Mavs to respond back in Arlington. Historically, UTA holds a 16-8 edge in the all-time series and is 7-3 over the last 10 meetings, though Tarleton has won the last two.

UTA's identity continues to start on the defensive end, forcing tempo with 9.2 steals per game and protecting the rim at 4.8 blocks per game, while Kira Reynolds leads the Lady Mavs at 12.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Veteran Nya Threatt adds 9.3 ppg, and Jadyn Atchison adding 8.1 ppg to provide scoring punch and pressure on the perimeter as UTA looks to win the possession battle and turn stops into offense.

The Texans play with physicality and balance, averaging 65.1 points per game, shooting 39.9% from the field, and knocking down 5.8 threes per game. Tarleton is led by Jakoriah Long 11.7 ppg; 46 threes at 37.7% and Gia Adams 11.4 ppg, with Elodie Lutbert anchoring the interior at 10.4 ppg on 48.0% shooting. The Texans also protect the rim 4.3 blocks per game, making finishes and second-chance opportunities a premium.
