Mavericks Host Sacramento State for WAC Series

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks return to Clay Gould Ballpark this weekend to host Sacramento State in a three-game Western Athletic Conference series beginning Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

UTA enters the weekend at 14-21 overall and 3-3 in WAC play, while Sacramento State comes in at 16-22 and 3-3 in conference action. The Mavericks will look to build momentum at home as they continue their conference schedule.

GAME NOTES
UT Arlington's lineup is led by Xavier Melendez, who enters the series hitting .379 with 55 hits, eight doubles, five home runs and 32 RBIs, posting a .538 slugging percentage across 34 starts. Harold Laracuente adds a .313 average with 40 hits, 12 doubles, a triple and a team-high 33 runs scored out of the leadoff spot, while Austin Phillips is batting .248 with 29 hits, five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs.

Behind them, Xander McAfee is hitting .252 with 33 hits, eight doubles, five home runs and 30 RBIs in 35 games, and Preston Knott has contributed a .240 average with 25 hits, five doubles, two triples, a home run and 11 RBIs. On the mound, Danny Valadez leads the staff with a 2.35 ERA across seven appearances, totaling 15.1 innings with 18 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .196 average. Kyle Winkler continues to provide steady work with a 2.76 ERA over eight appearances, working 32.2 innings with 16 strikeouts and three wins. Out of the bullpen, Merek Sears has been effective with a 3.00 ERA and two saves in 33.0 innings, while Hayes Melville carries a 3.22 ERA with three saves in 18 appearances.
