ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's tennis season came to an end in the 2026 Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament semifinals. The No. 4 seed Mavericks lost to the top-seeded Tarleton State Texans 4-0.

After taking the doubles point, the Texans picked up wins on courts one, two and four in straight sets to clinch the match. Tarleton's Ximena Morales knocked off Vanja Cado on Court 4, Maria Castano defeated Diana Kaibara on Court 1 and Aya Ishii rattled off four consecutive games over Elizaveta Mladentseva to end the match on Court 2.

Elsewhere in singles action, Natalia Gonzalez took down the Texans' Marissa Minetti 7-6 (7-3) in a marathon first set. The bout was left unfinished in the second set with Minetti ahead 2-1. 

Sofia Selle and Tarleton's Emma Persson made it to a decisive third set before it was called with Persson ahead 2-0. Selle won the first set 6-4 and Persson responded with a 6-0 victory in the second.

Tasnime Ahamout was in the midst of rebounding from a 6-2 loss in the opening set before her bout was called off in the second. The UTA freshman led Adeliya Mukhutdinova 5-4.

UTA wraps up the season at 6-14. Tarleton State (16-7) will face No. 2 seed Abilene Christian in the WAC tournament championship at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Arlington Tennis Center.
